Spatial-Temporal Representation of Syllables in Cat Primary Auditory Cortex

The spatial-temporal distribution of neuronal activity in primary auditory cortex (AI) was reconstructed for responses to consonant-vowel (CV) syllables with particular phonetic contrasts. Distinct differences in the distribution were evident for different CVs. Details of the spatial activity pattern changed when background noise was added.
