The Winograd Fourier transform algorithm is designed to minimise the number of multiplications used in calculating the discrete Fourier transform. This makes it suitable for use on a general purpose microprocessor. This paper describes the design of a real time speech parameter extraction system, based on the 68010 microprocessor, and using the Winograd Fourier transform, and compares its performance to systems using the FFT algorithm.
