A recent study of sub- and supraglottal pressures in speech has widened the basis for analysis of the physical correlates of stress and accentuation in Swedish. In order to establish a tie to perception we have performed assessments of relative syllable prominence on a continuous interval scale. The relative importance of duration, F0, intensity, source spectral slope and segmental contrasts are discussed. As outlined in more detail in [6], the transglottal pressure together with F0 is a main determinant of the voice source excitation amplitude Ee and thus of the sound pressure level. Special attention has been devoted to the nature of focal accent 1 and accent 2 and their relation to continuously scaled physical and perceptual data.
