Ceux qui parlent l'anglais comme langue maternelle manifestent peux du mal à entendre des mots réduits quand ils se présentent dans une phrase d'anglais 'gated.' Mais étudiantes avec d'autres langues maternelles manifestent une difficulté énorme en faire la même tâche. Sugirons qu'ils utilisent une méthode de percevoir "perspective à vol d'oiseau" au lieu d'employer renseignements phonologiques.
