The Punch and Judy Man: Speaker or Speakers?

This article describes an approach to the analysis of speaker variation through a contrastive study of the voices of characters in a puppet show, produced by a single speaker. The analysis uses a variety of techniques to identify the factors which lead to perceptual discrimination between the character voices and those which are common to all three characters examined.
