The post holders will work on the UK Department of Health funded project VIVOCA (Voice Input Voice Output Communication Aid).
The VIVOCA project aims to develop a portable speech-in/speech-out communication aid for people with disordered or unintelligible speech, initially concentrating on people with moderate to severe dysarthria (difficulty in controlling and co-ordinating the muscles in speech).

The project is a collaboration between the University of Sheffield CAST research team (Prof. Pam Enderby, Prof Phil Green, Prof Roger Moore, Dr Stuart Cunningham) and Barnsley District General Hospital (Prof Mark Hawley).

Applicants should have a first degree in Computer Science, knowledge of Speech Research and Speech Technology and C/C++ programming experience.
The successful applicants will be responsible for software development.
The posts are available from 1 April 2005 for a period of up to 3 years.
