At the Department of Communications Engineering (Fachgebiet Nachrichtentechnik) of the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics of the University of Paderborn the following vacancy is to be filled:
Research Staff Member
(Salary according to IIa BAT)
Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities of the candidate will include
- Research in various topics of speech signal processing, such as acoustic beamforming, blind source separation, speech enhancement, and robust automatic speech recognition
- Development of software and system concepts for high-performance speech processing systems, among others for web-based communication systems
The candidate will be given the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. degree.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has a university degree (Diploma, M.Sc.) with
distinction in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a strong
background in statistical signal processing, and practical experience
in software development, notably in C/C++.

Overview
The Department of Communications Engineering (www-nt.uni-paderborn.de)
is an active player in the speech processing research community. Within
projects funded by EU, DFG or industry we carry out research both in
front end speech signal processing algorithms and automatic speech
recognition. The University of Paderborn is located on a beautiful
campus, and Paderborn, a city of some 120.000 inhabitants, has a very
attractive city center with many historical buildings and leisure
places. Located some 100 km east of Dortmund, Paderborn is embedded in
a region with offers plenty of outdoor activities.
