The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is searching for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in phonetics and/or phonology.  The candidate should have a strong record of research and teaching in one or more areas related to the study of sound systems of language.  A background in experimental or computational approaches to research is desirable.  The ideal candidate will be someone whose research interests complement and build on existing strengths of the department and who is eager to engage with students and faculty in the broader linguistic community at UIUC.  Responsibilities include teaching and advising at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in phonology and/or phonetics.  The salary is commensurate with experience. The appointment will start on August 16, 2007.

 

The successful candidate must have completed all the requirements for the PhD degree by August 16, 2007.  For full consideration, applications must be received by November 8, 2006.  Candidates are requested to submit a CV, three sample publications, teaching evaluations, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the address below.
