WHAT are the Rules of the ISCA Membership Scheme?
After a major change in 1998, ISCA modified its membership scheme in
2002. Membership is no longer synchronized to a calendar year, as ISCA
gets many members via participation in workshops and conferences which
may take place in any month of the year. For this reason the ISCA Board
decided to move to a biannual membership scheme where membership can start
at any time but will end either on December 31 or on June 30, depending
on the month of entry. This new scheme is valid from January 2003 on.
It is ISCA's policy that the difference between the member and nonmember
registration fees equals the ISCA one-year membership fee, and we offer
a free one-year membership to nonmember participants of such an event.
- Persons entering ISCA for the first time via regular application (i.e.,
not via a workshop or conference), will be members of ISCA starting
with the month in which the application is received and processed by
the ISCA Secretariat. The same holds for former ISCA members whose membership
has ended more than six months before the new application.
- Persons entering ISCA via a conference (EUROSPEECH or ICSLP) or a
workshop (ITRW) will be members of ISCA starting with the month in which
the event takes place.
- Membership lasts:
- for members entering in January through April: until December 31
of the same year;
- for members entering in May through October: until June 30
of the following year;
- for members entering in November and December: until December 31 of
the following year;
- A person registering for an ISCA conference (Eurospeech) or an ISCA
Workshop (ITRW) must be an ISCA member AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT in order
to get the member's registration fee. Otherwise (s)he must may the nonmember's
registration fee and will then become a member of ISCA according to
Rule 2.
