The SAR system was designed for collecting, recognizing and reproducing speech. A user friendly environment, based on oral prompts, allows its use both locally or through the telephone network. This paper describes the architecture and functionality of this system, with emphasis on the software developped for the PC and the DSP board, and its application to the collection, training and test of an isolated digit recognizer.
