This paper reports on some experiments to simulate female glottal wave shapes using a mechanical glottal model. The model is a modified mechanical two-mass model . The simulated wave forms were compared to natural inverse filtered speech from one female speaker. Physiological data for the informant and from the literature were inserted in the model. Some properties of the model proved to be essential, for example bulging vocal cords and incomplete closure. The correspondence between simulated and natural wave forms is considerable.
