Pronunciation reduction: how it relates to speech style, gender, and age

Helmer Strik, Joost van Doremalen, Catia Cucchiarini

Many studies have shown that speech style affects pronunciation reduction, mixed results have been obtained for gender, and few results have been published regarding the relationship between age and reduction. In the present paper we investigate how pronunciation reduction is related to speech style, gender and age. Significant effects were found for speech style and age, while the effect of gender was not significant.
