It is a well known fact that connected speech shows several phenomena that are not found in written language. It is possible to distinguish two groups of languages depending on the rhythm (syllable-timed and stress-timed languages). In this paper, several examples of Basque are shown. All of cases correspond to connected speech and try to show different deletions of segments and syllables. It is an attempt to aproach to the role of stress in Basque (syllable-timed language) and to show different examples that seem to go against the rhythm typology of this language.
