In this contribution an overview is given of the research carried out within the SPIN-ASSP program to evaluate the quality of Dutch speech synthesis. Attention is paid to the intelligibility of single phonemes and consonant clusters, the adequacy of automatic sentence accent assignment, and the quality of synthetic speech at the text level.
