New Perspectives of Linguistic Study - How can linguistic theories help corpus-based techniques in NLP or vice versa?

Corpus-based techniques and symbolic, linguistics-based NLP techniques jave to be unified for further development of the field. The integration of these two streams of research will open up new perspectives of linguistic study that will unify rational-istsí theories with empirical study of lan-guages. Several research directions are discussed.
