Dear ESCA member,

Welcome to ESCApad - the new monthly ESCA bulletin.

Nowadays our e-mail boxes are permanently filled up with messages
announcing conferences, workshops, job positions, etc. so it's not our
intention to add just one more message of the same type. However, once
a month seems like a good time frame to keep in touch with our growing
community, in an attempt to summarize what's going on in our
organization, its publications (NESCA, Speech Communication, Web-SLS),
and forthcoming events.

We want to make ESCApad simultaneously brief and useful. Most of this
information will be on our Web page as well, so we shall often
include pointers to the places where you can get more information.  If
you have any other information which you think it's useful to include
either in ESCApad or in our Web pages, just send a message to:

- Our next ESCA Board meeting will take place in Bonn, hosted by
  Wolfgang Hess. The new Board met for the first time in Rhodes and
  for the second time in November last year in Budapest. The upcoming
  meeting will be during the weekend of 2-3 May, to minimize
  travelling expenses and take advantege of the fact that some members
  will participate in the ESCA workshop on pronunciation modelling in
  Kerdrade (4-6 May), not very far.
