This issue starts with a message from the Secretariat concerning the results of the elections for the extended ISCA Board, followed by the call for bids for the organization of Eurospeech 2001, and includes, as usually, pointers to future conferences and workshops. ISCA Greetings, Isabel Trancoso ============================================================================ ISCA Board elections The election for five new ISCA Board members ended on December 27, 1999. 279 ballots were received. Observing the rule decided by the General Assembly in Budapest in September 1999 (now part of the ISCA statutes) that no more than two residents of the same country can be members of the Board, the following candidates are duly elected. Names are listed in alphabetic order. - FUJISAKI, Hiroya (Japan) - FURUI, Sadaoki (Japan) - HERMANSKY, Hynek (USA) - HIRSCHBERG, Julia (USA) - WELLEKENS, Christian (France) The five elected candidates accepted the election and are now members of the (extended) ISCA Board. ISCA congratulates the new Board members on their election and is looking forward to collaborating with them in shaping ISCA's future. Wolfgang Hess Secretary, ISCA ============================================================================ Organisation of Eurospeech 2003 CALL FOR PROPOSALS Individuals or organisations interested in organising Eurospeech 2003 should submit by 31 January 2000 a brief preliminary proposal including the: The name and position of the proposed general chairman The city in Europe and information on the venue The proposed period in September The commercial conference organiser A preliminary budget Guidelines for the preparation of the proposal are available at http://www.isca-speech.org under the title "Conferences".
