The Mid-Career Excellence Award recognises and honours an individual who has shown a notable contribution in a specific area of speech communication research. The focus of this award is to recognise and honour a person’s career up to that point and expected impact in the future.

Nomination and Selection Process:

To qualify for this distinction, a candidate must have roughly 7-15 years after Ph.D. or of work experience in the field. Nominations may be made by any ISCA member. Mid-career excellence recipients may be recognised by their excellent scientific and/or technical contributions. The supporting case for the candidate's nomination should include one or two major contributions showing a notable contribution in a specific area of speech communication research. 

A nomination should be supported by references from senior scientists/technologists in the Speech Communication community in addition to the nomination form by the nominator. All the information is provided through the form. Current ISCA Board members are not eligible for nomination.

Mid-career excellence recipients are selected by the ISCA board. The total number of Mid-career excellence recipients selected in any one year will be minimally three and not exceed one-third percent of the total ISCA membership in that year (which is the quota for ISCA Fellow), calculated as the rolling average over the last three years, at the time of Interspeech. 

New ISCA Mid-career excellence recipients will be announced each year at Interspeech.

Nominations should be submitted through this form by March 1 each year. You should receive an acknowledgement within a week after receipt of the form.
